As defined by Merriam-Webster:
Arrogance : an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions
Confidence : the quality or state of being certain 1
To put it another way, arrogance is an uninvited, outward, boastful attitude. Whereas confidence is a atitude born out of an inward self-certainty.
It is important to understand the differences, because no one likes to deal with, or be around arrogant people.
