Wireshark, where are my VLANs?
Yesterday, like most days I was playing the part of “firefighter” and I ran into one particular fire that required the use of Wireshark.
Unlike most of my packet captures that I have taken in the past, I needed to see the VLAN information for this issue. So I did what ever self-respecting engineer does, I setup a monitor port, plugged in the cable and fired up Wireshark. But lo and behold there...

You see, we all know that Cisco exams are not the “best” in terms of wording and some of the insane questions they ask. It’s true some questions Cisco asks really have no true testing of one’s ability to function as a network engineer.
